Welcome

Gan means garden.

A garden is beautiful — but only when it's tended with care. That idea is the whole reason The Gan exists.

We dreamed about what a truly nurturing first school could feel like: a calm, warm space where a child is seen, loved, and given room to grow at their own pace — where the youngest years, the most foundational years of a person's life, are treated with the attention they deserve.

The name came from a long search for a word that captured exactly that. In Hebrew, gan means garden. And like any garden, a child needs the right soil, light, and love to bloom. That's the promise we make to every family who walks through our doors.

"A garden is so beautiful, but it has to be nurtured to bring out that beauty. So we named our school The Gan — garden in Hebrew." Sarah Barash, Founder

Our Approach

We teach to your child's strengths.

Most schools spend their energy on a child's weaknesses — trying to fix what's "behind." We do the opposite. Every child is born with their own way of learning best — visual, auditory, or hands-on — and our teachers are trained to notice those strengths and build on them, drawing on the science of neuroplasticity during the brain's most formative years.

When a child learns through what they're naturally good at, something powerful happens — they feel capable. Safe to try, safe to make mistakes, eager to keep going. That's where real confidence, and real learning, begins.

The 4B.E.L.S.™ framework

Our curriculum follows Dr. Andrea Saidman's 4B.E.L.S.™ framework — Body, Brain, Belonging, and Building a Better Self — nurturing cognitive, emotional, social, and physical growth so every child develops as a whole person.

Emotional intelligence, built in

Our emotional-regulation program helps children name what they feel, understand it, and learn to steady themselves — with breathing tools and a simple truth we return to daily: all feelings are allowed.

A calm place to focus

In a world of constant over-stimulation, our classrooms are intentionally quiet, warm, and uncluttered — designed to settle the nervous system so children can actually engage and thrive.

"If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing it's stupid. We want every child to feel emotionally safe — and to discover what they're brilliant at." Dr. Andrea Saidman, Education Consultant

Inside The Gan

Rich materials. Room to explore.

Every material in our classrooms is chosen with intention. We invested in beautiful, open-ended learning tools that invite creativity and exploration rather than dictate a single right answer — and we give children the space to follow their curiosity.

A day at The Gan might move from our STEAM program to a math or literacy station, from art to dance and movement, from yoga and breathing to quiet, focused play. Children choose how they learn best, guided by teachers who know exactly what each child needs next.

Jewish Life, Made Joyful

Where Jewish identity takes root.

At The Gan, Judaism isn't a subject — it's woven through the whole day. We make challah, celebrate Shabbat, mark the holidays together, and thank G-d before we eat. Children experience Jewish tradition through their senses: tasting, singing, feeling G-d's love in nature and in the warmth around them.

We see every child as a Divine spark, created b'tzelem Elokim — in the image of G-d — with infinite potential and purpose. Our hope is simple: that every child grows up feeling that being Jewish is joyful, that they are cherished, and that their connection to G-d and community is something to treasure for life.

Safe, Secure & Warm

So you never worry at drop-off.

We know that for today's families — and especially Jewish families — safety isn't a feature, it's a foundation. The Gan is built for it: dedicated on-site security, a calm and controlled environment, and a warm, highly qualified team who know and love your child.

The result is peace of mind. Parents tell us they feel completely comfortable the moment they say goodbye at the door.

"The facility feels so safe that I never feel anxious when I'm dropping Rose off. I just feel comfortable, secure, and so happy." Jamie, parent

What Our Families Say

Loved by the families who found us first.

"When Rose walks in, you can see her nervous system reset — she feels so calm, loved, and welcome. She comes home with stories every single day. Having looked at a lot of schools, I really feel they've created a one-of-a-kind experience. We're their number one fans."

Jamie Wollman · Parent

"We moved here from Israel just a few months ago, and the second my daughter walked in, she blossomed. The team wraps her in warmth and helps her feel understood. If I had to describe The Gan in one word: nurturing."

Hila · Parent (translated from Hebrew)
